Hands up who loves delicious dumplings?
Now, that should be a whole lotta arms waving around in the air because, seriously, who doesn't love delicious dumplings?
Behold, the Dreaming Dumplings*,
These are SO easy to make.
If I can do these, so can you.
Please note, these are NOT vegetarian - however, the Pork can easily be substituted for Tofu/Mushroom
1 x packet Wonton wrappers
500gm lean Pork mince
1 x Egg
3 x Tablespoons Sesame Oil
1 x Tablespoon minced Ginger
4 x cloves of Garlic - crushed
4x Tablespoons Soy Sauce
1 x Shallot - Thinly sliced
I also added 3 cups of shredded Bok Choy
Mix all the ingredients (except wrappers) together in a large bowl until well combined
Place one heaped teaspoon into the center of the wrapper.
Brush edges of wrapper with water and wrap.
I tested a few ways of wrapping and found the best [and easiest] was to bring opposite corners together to form a peak [See above pic]
Now, I am not a chef [as I have stated before] so I don't actually have a bamboo steamer. But I placed these into my metal vegetable steamer for 15 minutes and it worked fine.
I loved them so much that I decided to take them to work for lunch.
I keep Hikari brand Instant Miso soup mix at work, so I made this + added some extra Bok Choy
Now I know this is mixing Japanese with Chinese but it was awfully yummy :)
Pretty sure this will be my new fav Winter food
*This recipe makes about 100 dumplings, I made approx 20 and froze a whole heap of mixture to use for next time
