Homemade Lip Scrub

Winter is a bitch on skin, and lips in particular, here is an EASY and CHEAP alternative to expensive lip scrubs. And every bit helps when on a budget.

Warm 1 teaspoon of honey in the microwave for a few seconds.
Stir in 1 teaspoon of an edible oil [Olive, Sunflower, Avacado]
Add 2 teapsoons of white sugar
Stir in 1 drop of lemon juice

You can add essential oil to this if you like, I love peppermint so I always add peppermint to mine.

Because you have made this at home, you know there are no nasties.
Store it in an empty lipgloss pot and it will last a few weeks.
[I bought a pack of two from Priceline and it only cost $4.50 & came with a baby spatula]

Use a small amount in small circular motions on your lips - wipe off excess with a damp cotton pad and use your favourite hydrating balm to keep your lips in a state of perfect pout.

I exfoliate my lips once a week unless they are hideously chapped and I exfolitate every second night.
Too much is never a good thing.

Edit: If you dislike honey, substitute it with a teaspoon of paw paw ointment or vaseline. Not completely homemade but still good. Just make sure you add your fav essential oil or extra lemon with these subs.

  5. Ooh that looks delicious! Do you find that the honey and oil separates after a little while?

  6. It's pretty yummy. I had to hide it in my bathroom.
I left it on the kitchen bench and my roomate thought it was a toast spread.
I caught him before he attempted to use it though.

I haven't had a problem with it, I assume its because the honey is slightly melted when it goes it so it blends well. Could depend on temperature? Mine is in a drawer in the bathroom so pretty much always cold
